Frequently Asked Questions - Parents

  • We do not allow parents to run in the race as it creates a safety hazard for smaller children.

  • We recommend arriving at least 1 hour prior to your child’s heat time to allow ample time for parking and finding your school tent. Check in with the coach at your school regarding exactly what time they would like you to arrive.

  • Check out all participating schools for 2025 HERE. If your school is on this list, reach out to adrienne@ocmarathon.com to be connected with your coach.

  • Yes! Family and friends are welcome to join us on race day and watch the event.

  • We have a no refund policy that is signed during registration. However, you can contact the coach at your school about the virtual race option. If this method is chosen your coach will hand out your child’s medal + t-shirt at school.

  • Unfortunately we are only able to allow children whose school has a coach to run in The Final Mile Event. If you want to bring KROC to your school, consider becoming a coach!

  • Please contact your coach for school-specific information such as practice times, locations, rain delays, etc.

  • Please contact the coach at your school to see what can be done given proximity to the event.

  • KROC coaches are required to attend two training sessions: a program training (which takes place before the program begins), and an event day training (which takes place in April prior to the event. One coach per school is required to attend.

  • Kids Run The OC is available for kids grade K-8.

  • Yes! We welcome any schools in the Southern California region and beyond to join us if they are able to do so.

  • There is no cost to get involved in the KROC program, besides the $29 event fee. Coaches are exempt from this event fee as they have volunteered their time for 10-12 weeks.

  • Most coaches hold practices 1-2 times a week before, during, or after school. The program is customizable to your availability and your students schedules. This is discussed in further detail at the KROC program training sessions.
